Today we surprised Chuck and Jean with a secret 60th birthday party at the church. Rumor has it Chuck was told it was a surprise party for Jean while Jean was kept in the dark until this afternoon when Stacy called her and asked her to bring some ice to a youth event at the church. Obviously, from looking at the birthday party photos, Jean and Chuck were both pleasantly surprised.

Julian’s baptism is Sunday, July 15th at 4pm at St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Wichita. Please join us during this special time in JK’s life. What is it about a guitar that makes our eyes glaze over and imaginations run rampant? Think for a minute about the first guitarist you ever saw. I’m sure for a few seconds (perhaps even longer) you envisioned yourself holding that guitar and rocking out (personally, I believe this happened to me when I figured out who Guns ‘N’ Roses were…and how hard Slash could rock).

For Mikayla, the story goes the same way (although we’ll replace Guns ‘N’ Roses with Hannah Montana). A year ago or so Juli and I bought Mikayla a guitar because she so badly wanted to learn how to play and become a rock star, like her newly found favorite TV show star. She started lessons a couple weeks back and has been practicing at home (with Juli’s help). And although she’s just starting, I know she’s getting better and we have a rock star in the making.
