Family Archive
Since my sister, Amy Felix, and her family are headed to Denver, Colorado in a couple of weeks to continue their pursuit of happiness, I thought I would give them a farewell gift that doubles as a way to keep tabs on her, Tris, Jackson and Baby Felix at any given time.
For the past week or so I’ve been working on a new website for the Felix Family that gives them a place to share their thoughts, ideas, news, events and photos. It is all of 98% done (close enough to at least tell you about it).
Visit www.felix411.com for the latest information about the Tris and Amy Felix Family.

Edit: Uploaded some photos of the Dallas Zoo. See them below.
Our trip to Dallas/Oklahoma was pretty awesome. In addition to going to Jamie and John’s wedding, we also explored several cool attractions including the Dallas Zoo, the Dallas World Aquarium, the Dallas Natural History Museum, Turner Falls, the Oklahoma City Zoo, the park, Eskimo Joe’s and many excellent restaurants. We were away for a total of six days and drove a total of 957 miles. We took many photos of the trip and I am still in the process of uploading them to the site have one last set of images to upload before I’m done. Take a look at some photos of our trip (more photos to be uploaded later):

This year Juli decided we needed to have photos taken of the entire family…to show off the kids and document their remarkable growth, personality and good looks (from Juli of course). Take a look through the McClure Family Photo Gallery to see some updated photos.

Juli stumbled upon a cool site on Friday. Thanks to the folks at OfficeMax, you can now turn anyone into an elf. Take a look and see for yourself. It’s easy and only takes a few minutes. In addition to making anyone into an elf (that you have a digital photo of) you can also call an 800#, make a voice recording and add that to your message. Ingenious. Hope you all enjoy.

I was going through some photos on the computer tonight and thought this would be an excellent time to share with everyone. These photos are from about September 2007 to the present. More photos of the McClure kids will be up closer to Christmas, as we have more family gatherings. Let me know if you enjoy them.

The McClure family is on their way to a full recovery from Pertussis (more commonly referred to as Whooping Cough). A few weeks ago, Mikayla’s school had several kids diagnosed with Pertussis and sent home notes warning parents of the seriousness of it, warning signs of it and asked to have any kids acting crazy to get tested immediately. Long story short…I took JK, Kennedi and Mikayla in to see their pediatrician. Mikayla was tested and we were notified the very next afternoon that she was infected.
The whole family was put on antibiotics immediately and Juli and I were asked to get our immunization shots updated to aid in preventing future breakouts. So, here we are. Back to a road of normalcy.
On a more positive note, Mikayla (after being released from a 5 day quarantine from the general public) shot a three-pointer at Saturday’s basketball game. Their team (The Storm) devastated their opponents (Triple Threat) 35 to 5. Go Storm! In addition to winning their Saturday game, The Storm took second in the pre-season Biddy Ball tournament that ended last week with The Storm losing to The Dream Team.

Over the last year you could read on our site about the various activities Mikayla is involved in at school, at home, and with friends. But, what you may not realize is the incredibly time consuming schedule she has (and in turn, we have as her parents…well, and the rest of the kids too for that matter). Below is a list of her current activities, schedules and appearances.
Basketball
As of last week, Mikayla’s basketball season began. While the first few weeks are filled with practices, her first official pre-season tournament game begins in October. Currently her team practices Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings. Once the season begins this schedule will change to Saturday morning practices with games being played two nights a week. A schedule of games will be posted as soon as we get it.
Soccer
Starting this Sunday afternoon, Mikayla’s soccer season (and Juli’s soccer season, since she is coaching again this year) will “kick-off” (did you see what I did there…that’s ingenious writing) with a practice in the afternoon. Practices will continue to be on Sunday afternoons with games on Saturday mornings. A schedule will be posted as soon as we get them.
Horseback Riding
Starting this fall (at some point) Mikayla will be venturing off to an unknown farm with her school friend to learn about the wonders of horseback riding. This is one activity that Mikayla (among millions of other adolescent girls) has been going on about for a couple years. She will attend lessons with her friend once a week.
Guitar Lessons
Although Mikayla has been in guitar lessons for about 4 months now, beginning last week her lessons have dropped from once a week to every other week.
From her activities above, you can see she’s a busy kid. Essentially she’s practicing/playing a sport or activity at least 4-5 days a week. But with all that said, it’s no surprise she’s in so many activities… she’s a talented girl with many gifts.

Today we surprised Chuck and Jean with a secret 60th birthday party at the church. Rumor has it Chuck was told it was a surprise party for Jean while Jean was kept in the dark until this afternoon when Stacy called her and asked her to bring some ice to a youth event at the church. Obviously, from looking at the birthday party photos, Jean and Chuck were both pleasantly surprised.
